Funeral services for Bertha Florence Holst, 83, Everly will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, with the Rev. Rick Senner officiating
Casket bearers will be Bill Mattson, Bob Steuben, Russell Holst, Dennis Mattson, Richard Holst and Ron Steuben
Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly
The Warner Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements
Mrs. Holst died Sunday at Hartley Community Memorial Hospital
The daughter of John and Lulu (Steuben) Rolfs, she was born July 2, 1905 in Everly. Her childhood years were spent in Everly, where she was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church. She received her early education in Everly, graduating from Everly High School in 1922
Following her schooling she taught in a country school north of Everly. She attended the Cedar Rapids Business School in 1927
She married Rudolph Holst on June 4, 1930 in Everly. Following their marriage they continued to live in the Everly area, where she worked as a stenographer for First National Bank
They moved to a farm north of Everly in 1937 and in 1947 they moved again to a farm east of Everly. she worked as a teller in the Everly State Bank for many years, until retiring at the age of 65. For the past 10 years, she had been a resident of Mann Memorial Wing in Hartley. Mrs. Holst was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid in Everly
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters
Survivors include one son and his wife; Jerrold and Pat Holst of Everly; one daughter and her husband, Dolores and Wilbert Mattson of Alta; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, William Rolfs of Claryville, New York; three sisters; Ella Neff of Dubuque, Viola Rolfs of Cedar Rapids and Esta Rolfs of Long Beach, California
