William Gibbs, 90, Everly, died Saturday, February 5, at Spencer Municipal Hospital
Funeral Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, Everly, with Rev. G. Duane Baun officiating
Casket bearers will be Norm Nielsen, Ray Koeknk, Willar Spangler, Kent Kimball, Bob Goeken, Tom Goeken, Orlyn Peters and Cliff Murray
Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly, with Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of the arrangements
William James Gibbs, the son of William and Caroline (Emde) Gibbs, was born October 13, 1903, in Chicago, Illinois. He received his early education in Maywood, Illinois
On March 25, 1934, he married Lillian Nietzke in Hartley. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Sanborn. While in Sanborn, the couple owned and published the Sanborn Pioneer. In 1935, the couple moved to Everly, where they were owners and publishers of the Everly News for 35 years. They retired in 1966
He was member of the Hope Lutheran Church, where he had served on the church council as president and on the building committee. He was a past member of the Commercial Club and had served on the town council in Everly
Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters
He is survived by his wife and several nieces and nephews
