Jacob Imsland, a resident of Clay county for the past twenty years passed away at his home, 225 west Sixth street, this Wednesday morning, January 19, at 4:30. Mr. Imsland had been confined to his bed for the past year and a half and at the time of his death, caused from pernicious anemia, he was sixty-three years of age.
Jacob Imsland was born, May 11, 1864 in Norway.
When he was nineteen years of age, he came to the United States and located In Humboldt, Iowa, making his home with an uncle, who was at that time farming Just out of Humboldt. Mr. Imsland remained with his uncle for about four years and then went to Minnesota, where he farmed In different points. Following the years spent In Minnesota, Mrs. Imsland came to Clay county and settled on a farm four miles north of Ruthven where he resided for four years.
For the past twenty years, Mr. Imsland has made his home in Spencer and vicinity, and for the past three years he has lived in Spencer in his home on west Sixth street.
In 1893, April1, Mr. Imsland was united In marriage to Miss Bessie Christensen. To this union were born three children, two sons. Carl of Sioux Falls, S. D. and Chester of Spencer, and one daughter, Thelma of Spencer.
Jacob Imsland was a member of the Lutheran church of Ruthven and was also a member of the Woodman lodge of Spencer.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife and three children, a grandchild, Joseph Imsland of Sioux Falls two sisters, Mrs. Fred Geasel ol Powers Lake, North Dakota, and Mrs. Wright of Canada, three brothers; Ole Bleckre, A. Bleckre and Nels Bleckre all of Powers Lake, andother relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held this Friday, Jan. 20, at 1 o'clock at the Imsland home, 225 west Sixth street Rev. L.O. Wlgdahl, pastor of the Lutheran church of Ruthven, officiating. Burial will be made in the Ruthven cemetery.
