A resident of Spencer for 45 years, Emil C. Sorenson, 71 years of age, died Thursday morning, November 19, at ten o'clock at his home at West Sixteenth and Grove Street. Death was caused from hardening of the arteries.
Funeral services, attended by a host of friends, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home with Reverend O.C. Geisler, pastor of the English Lutheran church, in charge. Interment was made at Liberty cemetery south of Greenville. Pall bears were J.L. Anderson, J.O. Legere, W.H. Thomas, R.M. Tuttle, K.R. Tuttle and Louis Lieneman.
Emil C. Sorenson was born in Denmark June 20, 1860. At the age of 26 years, he came to the United States and made his home at Spencer, Iowa. He was employed for nine years at the M.E. Griffin ranch near Greenville.
In 1894 he was married to Caroline Kramer at the Griffin ranch. For nineteen years, he was in the employ of F.M. Tuttle, being engaged in farm work.
In recent years, he was janitor for the Spencer Masonic temple for three years and was later employed by the W.H. Thomas Manufacturing company. Mr. Sorensen had been failing in health for nearly two years and had been bedfast the last two months.
Mr. Sorenson was well-known during his long residence in Spencer. He was an honest and conscientious worker and always a good citizen.
He is survived by his wife and a sister-in-law, Mrs Dora Wildner of Spencer.
