To Clay County When 21
Charles William Parsons, son of William and Belle (Hargrave) Parsons, was born in Wampum, Wis., March 16, 1866, being 69 years and 14 days of age at the time of his death. When a young boy he moved with his parents to Rochester, Minn. There he attended the public schools, and later was graduated from the Barling Business college of that city.

At the age of 21 he came to Clay county, teaching [at] the Drake school for a number of years. He farmed for a time with his uncle, Robert J. Hargrave. He operated the Dickens creamery for a number of years and then the Sioux Valley creamery,

On October 2, 1900, Mr. Parsons was united in marriage to Miss Ada Hargrave. To this union were born six children, William T. Parsons of Laurens, Robert O. at home, Mrs. Isabelle R. Jorgensen of Gillett Grove, and Richard C., Claire W., and Fern L., at home. These children, with Mrs. Parsons, survive, as do a brother, Robert J. Parsons of Rochester, Minn., and many other relatives and friends.

Farmed in Later Years
In more recent years Mr. Parsons farmed a mile southeast of Dickens and later on a place north of Gillett Grove. They moved to the present home two miles east of Spencer a year ago this spring. In each community, Mr. Parsons actively supported constructive neighborhood enterprises, and with his family attended Sunday school and worship services. His death is mourned by many.
