Lauraine A. Adams

Lauraine A. Olson Adams, 82, of 1234 S. 9th Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1944, died Saturday morning, Feb 2, at Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Lutheran Church.

The Rev. H. Eugene Cedarholm, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Tuesday and at the church until time of services. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Memorials to the First Lutheran Church Elevator Fund will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, Russell; two daughters, Marilyn Versteegh of Newton and Diane Shipley of Upper Marlboro, Md.; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Clayton Olson of Rembrandt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and two brothers.

Mrs. Adams was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Jasper County Medical Assistants, Jasper County Senior Citizens, was active in the Kitchen Band and was a member of Good Cheer Class and Ruth Circle, both of the church.

Mrs. Adams, who had been an office nurse for Dr. Frank Forsythe for 20 years, retiring in 1973, had been a registered nurse working in Spencer, Grinnell, Des Moines and Ames.

The daughter of Albert and Lula Bertness Olson, she was born Oct. 9, 1908 in Rembrandt, was graduated from Rembrandt High School and took nurse’s training at the Sioux City Lutheran Hospital.

She was married to Russell Adams Dec. 26, 1942 in Rembrandt.

Mrs. Adams moved to Newton from Spencer. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 4 Feb, 1991.
