Former Spencer Resident Dies at Morris, Minnesota

Mrs. Hans Biksen of Morris, Minnesota, formerly of Spencer and a sister-in-law of Mrs. J.F. Kirk of this city, died Wednesday afternoon, October 12 at the Morris Hospital, death coming to relieve her suffering after and extended illness of nearly of sixteen weeks in the hospital. Death was due to cancer.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 15 at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church in Morris with Dr. A.L. Ricdhardson and Rev. J.S. Kettlewelll, former Methodist Pastor in Morris, officiating.

Interment was made in the Summit Cemetery.

The Pall Bearers were Henry Bergherr, J.W. Behl, W.A. Buss, Max Stevensonl, George Cruise and Ben Winters

Anna Elizabeth Peterson was born at Ackley, Iowa on June 7, 1873, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Peterson. The family moved to Illinois in 1874, then to South Dakota in 1886 and then from there to Spencer, Iowa, in 1895.

She was united in marriage to Hans Biksen at Spencer on December 22, 1899 and continued to reside here until 1918. In this latter year Mr. and Mrs. Biksen and their three children moved to Morris and have resided here since.

Decreased is survived by her husband, by a daughter, Blanche (Mrs. John Hockert) of St.Cloud, by two sons, John of Morris and Heine of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, by two sisters, Mrs. George Van Wert of Canisota, South Dakota and Mrs. M. Dripps of Morris, by two brothers, Rev. John Peterson of Britt, Iowa and Peter Peterson of Dickens, Iowa and by five grandchildren

Mrs. Biksen won the deep regard of all who knew her and a wide circle of friends mourn her death. She was a devoted wife and mother, a staunch member of the Methodist Church which she joined in Bridgewater, South Dakota on June 10, 1890 and was possessed of a kindly and helpful disposition

Among those from a distance who attended the last rites were Mrs John Kirk of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. John Hockert and daughter, Betty Jean of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Heine Biksen and daughter, Phyllis of Sauk Center, Minnesota, Mrs. George Van Wert of Canistota, South Dakota, Rev. and Mrs. John Petersen and daughter, Grace of Britt, Mrs. Albert Lyon of Ayrshire and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Peterson and daughter, Bernice of Dickens
