SERVICES
Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the First English Lutheran Church.

There will be Military Service conducted by the American Legion - Glen Pedersen Post #1 and V.F.W. Clay County Post#3159 of Spencer.

Steven Paul Loehr, the son of Curtis and Neola (Ratcliff) Loehr, was born June 15, 1949 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Lohrville, Iowa area where he received his early education. When Steve was nine years old, his family moved to Alton, Iowa, where he finished his education. After his schooling, he worked at a gas station for two years.

Steve married Ruth Kreykes on October 10, 1969, in Hospers, Iowa.

After their marriage, he entered the military in 1970 and served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1970 until his honorable discharge in July of 1976.

They returned to Orange City, Iowa, where he worked for Otis Manufacturing. They later moved to Alton, Iowa, where he was employed at a rendering company.

In 1978, he began work at Spencer Rendering Company, and in 1980, they moved to Spencer, Iowa.

He began working for Shine Brothers as foreman on the chopping line in Spencer in 1991, where he continued until his retirement in 2014.

Steve was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.

He was also a member of Glen Pedersen Post #1 for several years. He loved fishing with his beloved wife of 45 years. Steve loved to duck and deer hunt, shooting his bow and guns, riding motorcycle, reading, spending time with his children and grandchildren, cooking, and watching the History and Outdoor channels.

Every morning before work, he always went to Sisters Cafe for coffee.

Steven passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the age of 65.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Ruth of Spencer, IA; two sons: Wade (Joni) Loehr of Royal, IA, and Trevor (Melissa) Loehr of Spencer, IA; grandchildren: Cole, Tyler, Anthony, Kendel and Hana; three brothers: Curtis (Reta) Loehr of Orange Park, FL, Russell (Belva) Loehr of San Diego, CA and Rick (Nancy) Loehr of Enid, OK; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
