Funeral services for James William Elvin, 74, of Spencer, will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spencer. The Rev. Robert McClintock will officiate.

Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer

Members of the Fostoria Volunteer Fire Department will serve as Casket Bearers

Honorary Bearers; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Milleman, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Milton, Mr. and Mrs. James Wise and the Professional Nursing Service

Mr. Elvin died Sunday at his home

The son of John and Epineatus Eggleston Elvin was born November 30, 1911 in Nevada, Iowa. His family moved to the Spencer area when he was young and he received his education here

He married Anna Van Oort on February 8, 1937 in Spencer. They lived near Spencer, where Mr. Elvin was a farmer. For 29 years, he was a DeKalb seed corn salesman and also sold machinery for Fleischer Manufacturing for 20 years

Mr. Elvin was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a Summit Township Trustee, secretary/treasurer of the Fostoria Fire Department, past president of the NFO and a member and officer of the COOP elevator

He received several awards for outstanding sales achievement from DeKalb and Fleischer Manufacturing. Mr. Elvin also provided more than 17 years of service to ASCS

Preceding him in death were his parents, sister and one brother

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Kathryn Kelley of Omaha, Nebraska and two grandsons

The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of the service
