February 12, 2005Helen Ellis Veitch, 86 of Spencer passed away Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Longhouse Residence in Spencer
Funeral services are scheduled, February 15 at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Gary Nims officiated at the 2 p.m. service
Burial is in North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Spencer

Helen Ellis Veitch, the daughter of Reidar and Clara Oestenstad was born September 27, 1918 in Fostoria. She was raised and educated in Spencer, graduating from the Spencer High School. Helen also attended the Sioux City Academy for beauty school
Helen married Harry (Ding) Ellis in 1939 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Following their marriage they traveled the United States while Harry played in Big Band Orchestras. In 1945 they settled in Spencer. Two children were born to this union, Kathleen and Terry
On February 3, 1962, Helen married Carroll "Stub" Veitch in Jackson, Minnesota.
Helen owned and operated her beauty shop in Spencer from 1957 until three years ago having to close due to her declining health.
Helen was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harry in 1958; her son, Terry in 1975; one sister, Anna Sears and one brother, Reidar Oestenstad, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Carroll "Stub" Veitch of Spencer; one daughter and her husband, Kathleen Penkert and Dan of Fort Myers, Florida and Spirit Lake; 2 step daughters and their husband; Merrie Olsen and Lawrence of Shenandoah and Ruth Larsen and Joe of Council Bluffs; 4 step grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild; one niece and 4 nephews; other relatives and friends
