Leonard John Eischeid, 78, of Spencer, died Tuesday, May 18, at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spencer, with the Rev. Timothy Schott officiating.

Casket Bearers; Brandon Eischeid, Joe Eischeid, Lance Eischeid, Brian Arnold, John Arnold, Chad Lake

Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer, with military services conducted at the graveside

The son of Theo and Anna Wittrock Eischeid. Mr. Eischeied was born August 27, 1914 in Carroll. His childhood years were spent in Halbur, where he received his early education. Having attended auctioneer school in Mason City. Mr. Eischeid began his career as a livestock dealer and sale barn owner in Spencer following his military service

He married Mary Chapman on September 4, 1948 in Spencer. Throughout their marriage they lived in Spencer.

Mr. Eischeid was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Anne; two grandchildren and one brother

He is survived by his wife; three sons and their wives; John and Mary of Motley, Minnesota; Joe and Jeannie and James and Jackie all of Spencer; two daughters and their husbands; Jane and Steve Lake and Beth and John Lattner all of Spencer; 15 grandchildren; three brothers; Hilbert of Manning and Ted and Louis, both of Carroll and six sisters; Lorine Sextro of Denison, Florencer Gephart of Carroll, Louise Boeckman of Early, Irma Fast of Bingham Lake, Minnesota, Marie Schreck of Templeton and Tillie Busenbark of Omaha, Nebraska

Baumgarten Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements
