Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, January 1 for Mrs Bertha Niemand who died December 29 at her home on Fourth Avenue West after being ill for some time.

The services were held in the Cobb Warner Funeral Chapel with the Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer as the officiating minister.

Interment was made beside her husband in Liberty Cemetery near Greenville.

Pallbearers: Ernest Straub, Walter Lawson, Fred Lundt, William Kough, Giles Rutter, Peter Lundt

Bertha Caroline Seemann daughter of John Frederick and Marie Seemann was born July 6, 1860 in Meckelberg, Germany. At the time of her death she was 85 years and 5 months

She came to America with her parents when she was twelve years old. She was confirmed and became a member of the Lutheran Church while still in her native country.

She was married December 28, 1878 to John Martin Niemand, their marriage to place in Gladbrook, Iowa. they farmed for some time in that community and three years after their marriage came to Clay County, settling on a farm near Cornell where they lived until March, 1919, they they moved to the present home at 119 Fourth Avenue West.

Mr. Niemand died in March 1935.

Mr. and Mrs. Niemand became parents of nine children, Anna died in infancy, Amelia in 1905.

Survivors are Charles of Montevideo, Minnesota, Mrs. Nellie Kimball, Los Angeles, Mrs. Sophie Johnson of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Matilda Anderson, Richard, August and Edna Niemand of Spencer. There are six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Niemand was a member of the Women's Relief Corps and of the Home Society until recent years
