Helen L. Cummings, 65, Everly, died Friday, August 27, 1999 at Spencer Municipal Hospital, Spencer

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church, Everly, with Rev. Shurmaine McAlpine officiating

Casket Bearers; Bud Meyer, Bob Goeken, Roger Nath, Craig Kunzmann, Hap Thorne, Duane Doran

Honorary Bearers; Bud Bahnsen, Bob Cuttell, Wayne Johnson, Alvin Peterson

Burial will be at North Lawn Memorial Park, Spencer

Helen L. Cummings, the daughter of John and Marie Brugman Nielsen was born December 23, 1933 in Clay County. She graduated from Moneta High School in 1951

On October 7, 1951 she married Donald Cummings in Moneta

Following their marriage, they farmed northeast of Hartley for many years. In 1954, Helen was stricken with polio

In 1975, Mrs. Cummings moved to Everly and attended Spencer School of Business in 1976. She then started to work for the State Bank of Everly and worked there until 1994.

While living in Everly, Mrs. Cummings was a member of the United Methodist Church where she was the financial secretary since 1979. She was also on the financial board and the administrative council

She was preceded in death bu her parents and her aunt

Mrs. Cummings is survived by two daughters; Becky Turnock and her husband, Tom of Manchester, Missouri; Bonnie Moravec and her husband, Steve, of West Des Moines; four grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Lewis and her husband, John of Anaheim, California; and one brother, Don Nielsen and his wife, Marlene of Moneta

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements
