Funeral rites for W.L. Bender, esteemed resident of this city, who died last Monday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Hubbard in Flushing, New York, were held in Spencer Friday afternoon at two o'clock from the chapel of the Cobb Funeral home. Rev. Doane Upjohn, rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal church in Spencer and Estherville, had charge of the services. A quartette composed of Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Tuttle, Mrs. R.L. Koch and S.E. Carlsen sang two songs.
Pall bearers were A.W. Miller, Earl Peck, W.W. Cornwall, E.G. Morgan, Jr., H.E. Glover and Otto A. Bjornstad. Burial was made in the Riverside cemetery.
Mrs. W.L. Bender, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hubbard, the latter her daughter, and another daughter, Miss Adelia Bender of Seattle, Washington, who was at Flushing at the time of his death, accompanied the body to Spencer Friday morning.
Relatives from out of town besides the family who were present at the services were Mrs. Catherine Coral and Miss Alice Hubbard of Minneapolis, Minn., and Miss Maggie McConnell of LeMars.
