1986Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church for Emil D. (Bud) Brugman, 66, of the Peterson and Royal area, who died Thursday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital. The Rev. Fred Kempfert officiated.
Casket Bearers; Donald Nielsen, Russell Steinbeck, Darrell Brugman, Bill Whitlock, Don Brugman, Jr., and Wayne Brugman.
Military services were performed by American Legion Post No. 248.
Burial was at North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer.
Born June 26, 1919, near Moneta, to Hugo and Emma Voss Brugman, his childhood years were spent there and it was in the country schools that he received his early education.
On October 31, 1942, he entered the military and served with the 95th Army Infantry Division in Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. Following his discharge, September 19, 1945, he returned to the Royal area where he began farming.
On June 20, 1946, he married Gene Englert. They farmed in the Royal and Peterson areas.
He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as a church elder, was a member of the American Legion Post No. 248, V.F.W. and a 4 H Leader.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Karl; and one sister, Ada Jones.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dean and David, both of rural Peterson; two daughters, Kathleen Unterbrink of Phoenix, Arizona and Colleen Brugman of Spencer; two brothers, Russell of Royal and Don of Green Valley, Arizona; one sister, Dorothy O'Neal of Spencer; and five grandchildren.
Warner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
