DIED: Mrs. Isabel Fraser diet at her home on Friday, December 29, 1893, after about six weeks illness. The remains of the once loving and Christian mother were laid to rest in Oakland cemetery, near Peterson, on Sunday, December 31, 1894 [sic]. It is a mother's cherished hope to see her entire family mature into manhood and be able to care for themselves, and this mother has done so. She has seen nine boys from the cradle to manhood, and last Sunday the nine were gathered at the old home which is no more, to see mother laid in her last resting place on earth. Her work being complete to her best hopes on earth, she passes into that Heaven which has been prepared and receive the blessing, "Well done, good and faithful servant," and everlasting peace which is hers. The family has the sympathy of all. Next week we will publish the obituary which would have been published this week had we been able to get it.

Isabel Fraser, who died December 29, 1893, was born in Nova Scotia, March 15, 1836. She was married to J.W. Fraser on Christmas day, 1843, and they came to the United States the following year. In 1858 they removed to Iowa, and seven years ago, to Peterson. Two years later, a few days before Christmas, the husband passed into eternity and left the sorrowing wife to finish the few remaining years of her life with out his loving care.

Mrs. Fraser joined the M.E. church by letter when she first came to this place, and was a faithful and consistent member. She was a regular attendant at the Sunday morning and evening services and at the prayer meeting, and was found among the worshipers at her chosen church until confined to the bed by her last illness, a few weeks before her death. She was always ready and willing to help in church, society or benevolences, and is much missed where she quietly did her best to be of use in good works. She lived and died like a Christian. Her family of nine sons, all grown to manhood, were with her at the last and with the feeling that her life work was finished, she fell into the sleep that knows no waking. The funeral services were held in the M.E. church, on the last day of the dying year, and the edifice was full of friends who had gathered to pay the last tribute of respect. Before the sun had sunk behind the hills the remains of a loving wife and mother was laid beside those of her husband in Oakland cemetery.
