January 26, 2002Funeral services for Darlene Joan Englert were held Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal, Iowa. Rev. Gary Panko officiated.
Casket Bearers: Craig Thomas, Michael Haraldson, Roger Riley, Steve Thomas, Brian Mortensen and Mark De Young.
Interment was at Northlawn Memorial Park, Spencer, Iowa.
Darlene Joan Englert, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Johansen) Johanson, was born February 7, 1932 in St. Paul, Nebraska. She received her early education in St. Paul and Royal. Darlene moved to Spencer in 1947.
On August 22, 1952, Darlene married Bernard Englert in San Diego, California. After Bernard was discharged from the Navy in 1954, they made their home in Peterson where they farmed. After Bernard's in 1970, she moved to Royal and then to Spencer in 1997.
Darlene was a member of the Berthlehem Lutheran Church in Royal and the Dorcas Circle. Darlene enjoyed sewing and gardening, especially her strawberry patch when she lived on the farm.
On January 26, 2002, Darlene passed away at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 69.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Daryl Johanson, twin daughters; Jeri Jean and Margaret Ann; one grandson, Dustin VanEnde.
Darlene is survived by one son, John and Connie Englert, of Royal, two daughters; Jim and Jerri Haraldson of Rembrandt and Scott and Jolene VonEnde of Peoria, Arizona, seven grandchildren; Jason, Matthew and Lance Englert; Michael and Jennifer Haraldson; Travis and Tyler VonEnde; three sisters; Marlene and her husband, Clair of Everly, Jeanine Thomas and her husband, Roland of Spencer, Marjorie Mortensen and her husband, Keith of Royal; two brothers, LaVern Johanson and his wife, JoAnn of Peterson, James Johanson and his wife, Andrea of Eden, Georgia. one sister in law Phyllis Johanson, wife of the late Daryl Johanson; other relatives and friends.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
