January 11, 1958Mary Ione Gillespie was born January 19, 1891 in Spencer, Clay County, Iowa. The daughter of Daniel C. and Frances Maria (Gloyd) Gillespie. She attended the Spencer Public Schools and grew to womanhood in Spencer.
On March 31, 1911, she was united in marriage to Lester J. Winn at Everly. to this union were born two daughters, Frances Helen and Mae Louise.
They spent their married life on the farm in Meadow Township. On October 16, she moved to 913 East Fourth Street, Spencer.
She died Saturday, January 11.
She is survived by her two daughters, Frances Helen Winn and Mae Louisa Morthensen, son in law, Leo A. Mortensen and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester J. Winn; her father, mother, five brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts.
She was an active member of Past Noble Grands, Rebekah Lodge, Daughters of American Revolution, Women's Relief Corp., Farm Bureau and other community affairs
She was buried in Riverside Cemetery.
Funeral services ware held, Tuesday, January 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Chapel with Mrs. Harry Bryan , the First Reader of the Christian Science Church of Spirit Lake officiating.
Pallbearers: Paul Ferguson, Roger Mortensen, Ted Nelson, Lawrence Hansen, Donald Durst and Roy Struss.
