January 10, 1958Andrew J. Andersen was born in Denmark, May 24, 1869 and died in Spencer, January 10 at the age of 88 years, seven months and 17 days.
As a young man he came to Iowa. He was married to Marne Jensen about 1891. Three sons were born to this marriage, Metz, Pete and Magnus. His wife died in 1897 and the two younger sons were put in foster homes.
In the year 1900 he was married to Hannah Olson. She preceded him in death, January 10, 1942.
Andrew made his home in Spencer for about 57 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church being an honorary deacon at the time of his passing
His last years were spent in Delaney Nursing Home of Spencer.
He leaves his son, Metz, Sr., grandson Metz, Jr., two great grandchildren, Mitzi Wagoner and Kay Andersen and one great grandson.
Pete and Magnus Andersen preceded their father in death.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 13 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. A.M. Halvorsen officiating.
Pallbearers; Will Rhodes, Harold Stickler, Russell Leget, Tom Clague, Ed Swain, Art Smith.
Burial was in North Lawn Cemetery.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
