March 8, 2002Funeral service for Wanita Bechler, 78, of Royal is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal. Rev. Tim Fitzgerald will lead the service.
Mrs. Bechler died at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, March 8, 2002.
Casket Bearers: Sally Gerdes, Michael Gerdes, Brenda Peterson, Janette Windisch, Roxanne Workman, Tim Struve, Steve Struve, Dennis Struve, Tammy Heflin, Kevin Bechler, Joe Bechler, Christopher Abel, Corley Abel and Megan Abel.
Burial will be at North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Spencer.
Wanita Margaret Bechler, the daughter of Lester and Bernadine (Wempe) O'Toole, was born December 18, 1923 in Breda. She received her early education in Sac City. The family then moved to Jolley, where she graduated from high school.
On September 8, 1942, she married Glenn LeRoy Bechler in Pomeroy. Following their marriage, they lived in Sac City, where they farmed. In 1958, they moved to Royal, where she drove school bus and was a church janitor at St. Louis Catholic Church.
She worked at Witco in Spencer for 14 years until her retirement in 1985. Mrs. Bechler was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Birthday Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers and one son in law.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Linda Gerdes (Gary) of Weatherford, Texas, Patricia Weishaar of Spencer, Pamila Struve (Carl) of Rolfe and Mary Abel (Clark) of Greenville; one son and his wife, Gary and Lea Bechler of Spencer; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne O'Toole of Fort Dodge and Ray Orth of Sac City; one sister, Evelyn Oder of Milan, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
