Jennie Edwards Gage, 1841-1925

Mrs. Jennie Gage was born in the state of New York in 1841 and was married to George V. Gage in the late 70s. The settled on a farm in Meadow township and after living there several years they moved to West Fourth street in Spencer.

After the death of her husband Mrs. Gage moved to Durand, Ill., to live with her brother, Edward Edwards. After his death in 1923 she entered the I.O.O.F. old folks home at Mattoon, Ill. The latter part of March she suffered a paralytic stroke and passed away Saturday, April 4, 1925. She was a member of the Methodist church and Rebekah lodge No. 47 Durand, Ill.

She is survived by one brother, David T. Edwards, of Cortland, New York, and a niece, Miss Elsie Edwards of Chicago. Her people emigrated from Wales and settles in central New Yor state in 1840. Her remains were sent back here for burial on Tuesday.

Funeral services were held this afternoon in the chapel of the Cobb funeral home at 2:30 o'clock, services being conducted by Rev. T.B. Collins, pastor of the Grace Methodist church. The remains were laid to rest in Riverside cemetery by the side of her husband. Pall bearers were A.C. Perine, S.L. Cutshall, C.S. Weaver, G.E. Phelps, J.K. WEst and E.G. Morgan.
