John W. Chapman, 1852-1904

John W. Chapman died at the home of his brother, Chris. Chapman, in Spencer, Sunday evening, after an illness extending over more than a year, his ailment being Bright's disease. Mr. Chapman came to the home of his brother about two months ago, where he received every possible care, but disease was too deeply seated and he passed away as above noted. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Free Baptist church, at 2 p.m., services being conducted by Rev. A.M. Leichliter, assisted by the pastor. Burial was in Riverside. Mr. Chapman was 52 years old when he died. He was a man of sterling character and highly esteemed wherever known. He leaves a wife and an adopted daughter.
