July 3, 1952Carl H. Freeburg was born at Vestergotland, Sweden, on March 15, 1873. He moved to Clay Co. in 1880 with his parents, Gustav and Katharine Freeburg. His parents were among the first settlers in this community. Carl grew to manhood in Lincoln Township during the early pioneer days.
On November 13, 1901, Carl was united in marriage to Marie Anderson of Royal, Iowa. Four sons and three daughters were born to this union. He spent 73 years as a farmer.
Mr. Freeburg leaves to mourn his passing his wife, four sons, Oscar and Wilbur of Grove City, Minnesota, Elmer of North Platte, Nebraska and Herbert of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; three daughters, Mrs. Theran Vanderhoff, Dickens, Iowa, Mrs. Frank Norris and Ruth Freeburg of Spencer,Iowa.
He leaves also 3 brothers, Harry of Garvin, Minnesota, Albert of Walnut Grove, Minnesota and Martin of Spencer. Four sisters, Emma Souders of Dickens, Iowa, Hannah Jensen of Pasedena, California, Elizabeth Ekdahl of Alexandria, Minnesota and Beda Sampson of Royal.
Also 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nephews and nieces.
Mr. Freeburg was a member of the Assembly of God Church, was an ardent and Christian worker and will greatly be missed among the congregation.
Funeral services were held July 5, 1952 at 2:30 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church with Rev. L. Holman officiating.
Pallbearers: Eric, Enoch, Edward and Richard Carlson, Dale and Raymond Freeburg all nephews of Mr. Freeburg.
Burial was at North Lawn.
