Services for Farris E. Amis, 84, of Spencer were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Warner Chapel. The Rev. Leon Triggs and the Rev. Gerald Hallauer officiated and burial was in the Northlawn Cemetery

Bearers: Allan Jones, Frank Hargens, Ralph Lundt, Roger Larson, Wilmer Lundt and Edgar Quillian

Honorary Bearers: Bob Gibson, Al Gibson, Clint Jones, Don Veitch, Russell Lewis, Lowell Lewis, Erwin Barglof, Earl Kraft, Leo Lanf, Chester Norland, Raymond Burg, Farris Johnston, Chris Nielsen, Clyde Brown, Elmer Anderson, Weldon Pickering, Wayne Pickering, Clyde Jones, Dr. L.W. Larson, Tom Norman and George Brownell

Mr. Amis was born September 29, 1893 in Wayne County, the son of Hanes and Nancy (Larrew) Amis. He received his education in Wayne County.

He served in the Army.

He farmed in Greenville area until his retirement in 1959 when he moved to Spencer. He graduated from Kansas City Auction School in 1920.

He married Anna Marie Swanson on May 23, 1923 at Primghar. She died November 21, 1975.

He was a member of the Consistory, 32nd Degree Mason, Shrine Commandery and York Rites, 50 year Mason, 50 year Legionaire and a member of the Congregational Church of Greenville. He served on the Greenville school board and was past president.

Survivors include one son, Everett of Greenville; two daughters, Mrs. Darlene Prather of Spencer and Mrs Geraldine Hively of Spencer; five grandchildren; one sister, Delia Casey of St. Joseph, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant child, five brothers, Melvy, J.T., J.O., Narvy and Guy, four sisters, Tase, Mae, Blanche and Lena.

Masonic services were held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and military services followed the graveside.

The Warner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
