Clark Wallace Chickering, the son of George and Ida Belle (Finley) Chickering, was born May 13, 1916 in Webb, Iowa. He was born and raised on a farm near Webb, where he received his education for 2 years in Greenville and later graduated from Webb High School. While in high school, he played baseball and basketball. After his schooling, he continued farming.

He married Muriel Post and they had two children.

Clark married Betty Jane Crowl on March 6, 1948 in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage they continued farming in the Webb area and later moved to Everly, where they purchased a farm, which they operated from 1956 until their retirement in 1975. They moved to their lake home in 1975, where they lived for 14 years and later they moved to Spencer, Iowa where he lived the remainder of his life.

He was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Everly, where he was a member of the Men's group. He was also a past president of the Lion's Club in Everly. Clark was an industrious worker and took great pride in farming, planning and building his cattle feeding setup, grain and feed equipment, and a hog finishing unit for their farm. After retirement, he was an avid golfer and grew many beautiful flowers. Clark and Betty enjoyed numerous winters in Florida and California.

Clark passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa on Friday, May 3, 2013 at the age of 96.

Clark was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane; one daughter, Cynthia Ann (Chickering) Choyinski; one son, Larry Wayne Chickering; a grandson, Neil Smithwick; all 7 of his brothers and sisters: Lester, Darwin & George Chickering, Ruth Woods, Edna Hovinga, Harriett Hakes and Bernice Anderson.

Left to cherish his memory are several relatives and many friends.
