Darrell Norman Beving, the son of Joe and Pearl (Shatto) Beving, was born September 4, 1927 in Fostoria, IA. Most of his life was spent in the Langdon/Fostoria/Dickens area, where he received his early education, graduating from Lake Center High School.
Following high school, he attended a college in Eau Claire, WI for a short time before entering the military.
He served his country with the U.S. Navy overseas in the South Pacific during WWII from June of 1945, until his honorable discharge in September of 1949. After his discharge, he returned to his home area, where he worked construction and farmed for many years.
He was a member of the Langdon United Methodist Church.
Darrell married Sandra Franker on May 26, 1982 in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, they continued to farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and helping the children with 4-H and spending time with his family.
He passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home farm on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the age of 84.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Margene Schoning and Bonnie Koenig.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra of rural Dickens; his children: David Beving of Lacrosse, WI, Susan Beving (Doyle Engebretson) of Dickens, IA, James Beving of Onalaska, WI, Nora Beving (Michael Shannon) of Nemaha, IA and Gail KaKaire of Altoona, WI; his stepchildren: Kathy Gossman and Kristy Fisher both of Goodlettsville, TN, Kent Means and his wife, Mindy of Royal, IA; Special Great Grandson, Dakota Peters; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
