Evelyn Petersen Caquelin, 1926-2009

Evelyn Beatrice Caquelin, the daughter of Leonard & Alice (Thede) Petersen, was born December 13, 1926 in Boone, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, where she received her education at Ft. Dodge Elementary School. Her family later moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she continued her education, graduating from North High School. Evelyn continued her education at A.I.B. in Des Moines. Following her schooling, she worked as a secretary for the U.S. Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.

Evelyn married Don Arthur Caquelin on November 23, 1957 in Boone, IA. Following their marriage they lived in Ames, Iowa, where she worked as a secretary for Iowa State University. Her family moved to Spencer, Iowa in 1967. She enjoyed attending sporting events for her children and helped with the swim team. She also enjoyed shopping, enjoyed collecting many things, including dolls, especially beanie babies and playing bingo. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Evelyn passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, March 13, 2009 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Tim and Phillip Caquelin and a sister, Jean.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Don of Spencer; one son, Bob Caquelin of Carlisle, IA; two daughters: Retta Caquelin of Boone, IA. and Jayne and her husband, Tim Walters of Newark, Delaware; a daughter-in-law, Sheree and her husband, Brad Sanderson of Spirit Lake; her grandchildren: Lori Huss and her husband, Wayne, Chris Mozena and his friend, Carrie Backus, Tom Mozena and his wife, Amber, Joseph Mozena, Alec Caquelin, Jordyn Caquelin and Timothy Walters; 9 great grandchildren; Casey, Josie, Emma, Jonathon, Jeremia, Dacotah, Clayton, Carter and Carson; 3 sisters: Pat, Elaine and Doris; a brother, Dwight; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
