George Harrison, 1930-2011

George Harrison, the son of George and Myrtle (Harvey) Harrison was born April 27, 1930 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He attended school in Cylinder and graduated from Cylinder High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954.

George married Donna Fiedler on April 28, 1952. After his discharge from the Marines, he worked on a farm near Milford, Iowa. In 1960, they moved to Peterson, Iowa, where he worked for the Peterson Hatchery. He then worked for Wetherell Sand and Gravel in Peterson, until his retirement in 2009. George was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peterson, where he was a Sunday school teacher and Donna and George were Youth Group leaders. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years and served on the Clay County Selective Service Board. George was an active member of the Peterson American Legion.

George passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Preceding him in death were his parents; 5 brothers; two sisters; one grandson, Luke Mueller and an infant son at birth.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna of Peterson; his children: Bob and his wife, Lindsay of Davidsonville, MD, Terri and her husband, Mike Mueller of Lake Park, IA, Jodi and her husband, Jeff Triplett of Sutherland, IA; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three sisters: Dorothy and her husband, Walter Nase of Mankato, MN, Marilyn and her husband, Larry Egland of Emmetsburg, IA and Janice and her husband, Jerry Joynt of Clear Lake, IA; other relatives and many friends.
