Pioneer Lady Called

Mrs. Clarissa Van Epps died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Randall, on Christmas day at three o'clock.

Mrs. Van Epps was born at Graton, Thompkins county, New York, Feb. 17, 1821, being ninety-three years, nine months and eight days old.

In 1844 she moved to Wisconsin and lived there a number of years. After the death of her husband she came to Clay county in 1870 and has ince made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Peter Randall. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Van Epps, Mrs. Randall being the only one living.

This good woman lived to a fine old age. She was devoted Christian, being a charter member of the Congregational church of this place. She has been fairly active until a few weeks ago when she suffered from a stroke of paralysis and never rallied.

This splendid Christian and pioneer woman will be missed by a large circle of admiring friends.

The funeral was held from the home of Mrs. Randall on west Second St., Sunday afternoon and the interment was in Riverside cemetery, the services being conducted by Rev. J.O. Thrush.
