An extremely sad death was that of Miss Mary Vestergaard who died last Wednesday in the hospital at Cherokee. Her illness dated to some time back and was due to a complication of diseases. The remains accompanied by her brother, Andrew Vestergaard, arrived in this city Friday and were taken to the Danish Lutheran church from which place the funeral services conducted by her pastor, Rev. Henry N. Hanson, were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The interment was made in Riverside cemetery, the pall bearers being Hans Sorensen, Walter Nelson, Arthur Jensen, Chris Bang, Clarence Anderson, and Fred Nelson.
Mary Johanna Vestergaard, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Vestergaard was born Feb. 23, 1881 at Lonstrup, Denmark. In this country she spent her childhood and received her education. Early in life she affiliated with the Danish Lutheran church and has ever been a devout member. Twenty-four years ago in company with her parents she came to America, locating at Moorehead, Iowa, and about nine years ago the family moved to Spencer which place has since been her home. She leaves a father, mother, two brothers, John and Andrew Vestergaard of this city and one sister, Mrs. Andrew Johnson of Moorehead, Iowa. Out of town relatives at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Johnson of Moorehead.
