July 27, 1997Florence Blighton, 76, died Sunday, July 27, 1997 at Palo Alto County Hospital, Emmetsburg.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, at 10:30 a.m. at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home, Emmetsburg, with the Rev. David Biddle officiating
Casket Bearers; Andrew T. Blighton, Christal Blighton, Scott Blighton and Melissa Jacobsen.
Burial will be at Dickens Cemetery
Florence Margaret Blighton was born February 25, 1921 to Joseph and Maggie (Reeverts) Whalen in Minnesota. She graduated from Dickens High School.
On June 20, 1942, she married Ernest Blighton at Lakefield, Minnesota. She was a homemaker. Each year she made a quilt for the Dickens Methodist Church fall fund raiser.
Mrs. Blighton was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandchild and two infants siblings.
She is survived by three sons, Ray Blighton of Fort Collins, Colorado; Bob Blighton and his wife, Carolyn of Suffield, Connecticut and Joe Blighton of Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter, Linda Jacobsen of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren; four sisters, Jenny Piscator of Lake Park; Alma Blume of Fonda; Bertha Strohman of Jewell; and Mae Reinholdt of LeMars; and one brother, Melvin Whalen of Dickens
