Funeral services for Martin William Anderson, 96, of Webb, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, at First Baptist Church in Webb.

The Rev. George Hope will officiate.

Burial will be in Garfield Cemetery, Webb.

The Graeber-Rowe Post # 394, of Sioux Rapids will conduct a military service.

Casket Bearers; Russell Essick, Gary Johnson, Ken Essick, Jack Sylvester, Jerry Enderton and Bob Essick.

Honorary Casket Bearers: Dean Johnson, Larry Crone, Leo Alexander, Glenn Hart, Bob Speed, Elwyn Rogers, Gerald Hart, Raymond Ball and Denny Hamrick.

He died Wednesday, May 8, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.

Mr. Anderson was born October 18, 1894 in Fort Dodge to Charles and Annie (Peterson) Anderson. His family moved to the Webb community when he was a child and it was there he began his schooling in country schools.

After completing his education, he began farming with his father.

He entered the military in 1917 and served with the Army in World War I. Following his discharge, he returned to Webb where he continued to farm.

On September 5, 1928, he married Sadie Mae Hughes at her parents home in Webb. throughout their marriage, they have made their home in the Webb Community. He farmed until retiring in 1944, when they moved into Webb.

He was a member of the American Legion, Graeber-Rowe Post #394 in Sioux Rapids and had been a member of the Odd Fellows.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Mae; one daughter and her husband, Bonnie and Lowell Merrill of Hawarden; one granddaughter and her husband, Donna and James Weeks of Omaha, Nebraska; one grandson and his wife, Daniel and Dawn Merrill of Long Island, New York; four great-grandsons; and one brother, Reuben Anderson of Webb.

The Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
