March 18, 2000Patricia Alger, 60, of Avondale, Arizona, formerly of Dickens, died, Saturday, March 18, 2000 at the Sunbridge Nursing Home, Avondale, Arizona.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., today at Warner Chapel in Spencer with the Rev Ken Suetterlin officiating.
Burial will be at Dickens Cemetery

Patricia Ann Alger, the daughter of Steven Thomas and Ella Hulda (Merry) Oliver was born June 24, 1939 in Spencer. Her childhood years were spent in Montgomery, where she received her education before graduating from Spirit Lake High School in 1956. Later she attended Iowa State University. After she finished her schooling, she moved to Hollywood, California.
In 1959, she married Del Tipton and they lived in South Carolina. She moved back to Montgomery in 1962
In 1965, she married Darrell Dean Alger in Montgomery. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Dickens, where they started Alger Construction in 1972. She worked as a bookkeeper in the business and operated an upholstry shop until selling both businesses moving to Arizona in 1988.
While in Arizona, she worked in the University of Arizona as an administrative assistant in the history department.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son and one brother.
She is survived by one daughter; Gina Renee Hampshire of Winterset; two sons; Stacy Dean of Seattle, Washington; Jeffery Dean and his wife, Jenny of Avondale; six grandchildren; two brothers; Ron Oliver and his wife, Joy of Guffy, Colorado; Doug Oliver and his wife Caroline of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Audrey Nissen and her husband, Don of Mesa, Arizona and one sister-in-law, Donna Oliver of Dows
