Langdon, IowaDolores J. Averill Hintz Hoppe, the daughter of David and Esther (Todd) Averill, was born on March 21, 1933, in Des Moines, IA. Her family moved to the Spencer area when she was 6 where she attended school in Rossie graduating in 1951.
Dolores married Henry Hintz on January 20, 1956 in Spencer, IA. To this union three children were born: Mike, Terry and Rhonda. The couple lived in Spencer where she worked for Rexall Pharmacy and then Nelson Pharmacy for many years.
On July 16, 1983, she married Bertram Hoppe in Spencer, IA. They enjoyed spending time together on the road together where they shared truck-driving duties. She lived in Rock Rapids from 1990 to 2009 and then moved back to Spencer.
She was a member First English Lutheran Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary while living in Rock Rapids. Dolores loved helping and being with people and spending time with her family.
She passed away on August 9, 2012, at the Avera Mckennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 79.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands and three brothers: Harlan, Douglas and David.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Mike Hintz of Spencer, IA and Terry Hintz of Spencer, IA; one daughter, Rhonda Harleman and her husband, Don of Spencer, IA; five grandchildren; five great grandchildfren; four sisters: Betty Matthiesen of Spencer, IA, Beverly Zmick and her husband, Jerry of DeLang, FL, Bertha Besaw of Spencer, IA and Dorothy Ross of Estherville, IA; other relatives and many friends.
