SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Spencer.

A military flag presentation will take place following the services at the church.

Raymond Virgil Wilson, the son of Claude and Blanche (Rusk) Wilson, was born July 23, 1912 in Dickens, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in rural Spencer, where he received his education at a country school. His family later moved to the Gillett Grove area, where he graduated from Gillett Grove High School. Following his schooling, he began farming with his father.

In 1942, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Army during WWII, until his honorable discharge in 1945, when he moved back to Clay County and continued farming, until his retirement.

Ray married Ervine Chestelson on November 19, 1983 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Webb, Iowa. Following their wedding, they continued to live in rural Webb. They moved to Spencer in 1989, and became members of Christ The King Lutheran Church.

Raymond passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the age of 98.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Wilson and a sister, Margaret Wilson; a great granddaughter, Jennifer Meree Scanlon; and his wife, Ervine on February 3, 2010.

Left to cherish his memory are his stepson, Julian B. Chestelson and his wife, Sheila of Dallas Center, IA; his grandchildren: Brian Chestelson of Des Moines, IA and Jon and Amy (Chestelson) Scanlon, of Urbandale, IA; other relatives and friends.
