September 5, 2006Margie Sylvester, age 97, of Spencer, Iowa and formerly of Webb, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Spencer Municipal Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb, with Reverend Moody Colorado officiating.
Burial will be in the Garfield Township Cemetery in Webb.
The Sliefert Funeral Home of Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
Margie Evelyn Mushrush was born May 26, 1909 in Audubon, Iowa to James and Bessie (Higley) Mushrush. She received her elementary school education in Lake Park, Iowa and then attended high school in Greenville, Iowa.
On September 3, 1927, Margie was united in marriage to Chris Sylvester in Spencer. They were blessed with two sons, Jack and Garland. Margie was a devoted wife and mother, who made a warm and comfortable home for her family.
A faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Webb, Margie also was a member of Ruth Circle, Baptist Women’s Society, and Eastern Star. She was a member of the 20th Century Federated Women’s Club of Webb and enjoyed her membership in the Webb Bridge Club. She also served on the Webb Library Board. Margie loved to cook, entertain, play cards and travel—she spent 20 winters in Southern Texas.
In her later years, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought great joy into her life and she delighted in following their activities. Margie was a very loving and positive lady who remained very active even while she was at Riverview Terrace. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jack (Connie) Sylvester of Webb; grandchildren: Jane (Tom) Goodlaxson of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Jill (Gary) Hamilton of Rancho Santa Fe, California; Tim (Mindy) Sylvester of Webb; Kim Lawler of Rosemount, Minnesota; and Tami (Matt) Rempe of Sylvania, Ohio; great-grandchildren: Christian, Regan and Madison Sylvester; Myles and Avery Hamilton; Luke and Ryan Rempe; Jack and Greta Goodlaxson; and Morgan Lawler; sister Lola Sunde of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; extended family and friends.
Preceding Margie in death were her parents; her husband of 52 years, Chris Sylvester, in September, 1979; her infant son, Garland; brothers Raymond, Edward, Lloyd, Don, Gordan and Bill; and sisters Faye Klesoth and Georgia Dyhrkopp.
Interment in Garfield Township cemetery
