Ethel Davis Culver, 1881-1915

Ethel Pauline Davis was born in Superior, Nebraska, the 12th day of February, 1881. In 1895 she came with her parents to Dickens. The 5th day of April, 1898, she was united in marriage to William A. Culver of Dickens. Mrs. Culver's entire married life was spent in Iowa. To this union were born, Bessie, Ralph, Glen, Neenah, Martin, and infant, Edith May, who with her husband survive, together with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Davis of Ireton, five sisters, Mrs. W. Lockard of Fairmont, Minn., Mrs. W.R. Garr of Craig, Iowa, Mrs. Alvin White of Ireton, Iowa, Mrs. S. Putnam and Mrs. R. Walters of Dickens, and two brothers, T.F. Davis and Glenn Davis of LeMars, Iowa, are left to mourn her loss. Mrs. Culver has not been well for the past few years, and a week ago Thursday entered the Spencer hospital where she underwent an operation, last Tuesday. Though everything possible was done taht loved ones could do to restore her health, she could not be spared, and passed away Thursday at 5:45 a.m. at the hospital. She was so confident of surviving and went to the operating room with a smile.

Mr. Will Davis, father of the deceased Mrs. W. Culver, came from Ireton Wednesday. Thurlow F. Davis and Glen Davis, brothers, from LeMars, came Wednesday and also a sister, Mrs. Will Lockard from Fairmont, Minnesota, Mrs. W.R. Garr of Craig, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin White of Ireton, Iowa, came Thursday, sisters, to attend the funeral which was held Saturday.
