MRS. CAMPBELL DIES AT AN EARLY AGE

FOUND DEAD BY SHERIFF WHEN ENTRANCE TO HOME IS FORCED

Friends of Mrs. John C. Campbell of this city where shocked to learn of her sudden death, which occurred early Tuesday morning while she was alone at her home on West Fourth street.

A neighbor called at the Campbell home during the morning yesterday, knocked at the door, and failing to receive an answer became puzzled, since Mrs. Campbell was known to have been in the house. Finally when she did not appear, the neighbor called the office of Sheriff Fred Erickson, about ten o'clock.

The sheriff went to the home and forced an entrance. Mrs. Campbell was found dead in her bedroom. County Coroner Bokol was called to the scene and pronounced death due to heart trouble. He said the woman had been dead about four hours when found. She was about 54 years old.

Mr. Campbell was out of the city at the time and could not be reached. He later was notified of his wife's death and returned home.

Dott Brace was the daughter of Mose and Celestia Brace, and was born on a farm in Lake township, Clay county, July 5, 1875. She attended a rural in Lake township until the Brace family moved to Spencer in 1888. The she attended the public schools here.

Before her marriage to John C. Campbell, which took place in Hot Springs, Louisiana, December 11, 1926, she taught school in Clay county for many years. Since their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Campbell have made their home on West Fourth street and also in Hot Springs, Louisiana. Mr. Campbell is a painter.

During the time she was visiting with her adopted daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Engle at Sigourney, Iowa, in 1923, she united with the Christian church and remained a faithful member.

Mrs. Campbell was a loving and devoted wife, a kind mother, friend and neighbor. She will be greatly missed by her relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her death her adopted daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Engle, and also a granddaughter, Yvonne Dott Engle of Sigourney, Iowa, two sisters, Mrs. Myra Williams of Spencer and Mrs. May VanDee of Lake Charles, Louisiana, also a nephew, Arnold VanDee, captain of the Salvation Army at Lake Charles.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Chapel of the Cobb Funeral home. Rev. W.F. Hurst, pastor of the Christian church, will have charge of the service. Burial will be made in Dickens cemetery beside her parents.
