In 1900 the family moved to Webb, where they settled on a farm southeast of town. In 1920 he retired from active farming and moved to Spencer, Iowa, where they lived until 1923 at which time they moved to Manitou, Colo., until the time of his illness he was brought back to Webb to the home of his sons, where he was cared for until the time of death.

The deceased, eldest of the family, is the first to break the family circile which is indeed remarkable at his age. In his youth he became a member of the Evangelical church and was a strong believer in his Bible.

At the time of his death he was 81 years, 9 month and 5 days. He had a large circle of friends in Illinois, Iowa and Colorado where he had lived and was a kind considerate neighbor.

He will be deeply mourned by his family and friends but death came as a relief to his suffering.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church conducted by Rev. Carl Hammer and his body laid to rest in the Garfield cemetery.
