MRS. WM. DEEGAN DIED LAST TUES.

A RESIDENT OF COUNTY SINCE 1893; WAS AT ROCHESTER

Mrs. William Deegan, a highly esteemed resident of Clay county, passed away at St. Mary's hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, last Tuesday morning, April 29, following an operation for appendicitis. Before her operation, Mrs. Deegan had just recovered from pneumonia, which was also the cause of her death. She was 64 years, 4 months and 16 days old.

The body was brought to the Deegan home in Peterson township last Wednesday for funeral services were held Friday morning at St. Louis Catholic church in Royal. Father Anthon Oaken officiated. He was assisted by Father M.C. Wendl of Spencer and Father Bausch of Sutherland, who read the Requim Mass. Burial was made in the cemetery at Peterson.

Pall bearers were T.J. Sweeney, James Sweeney, J.B. Deegan, Will Sweeney, C.E. Stoner and James Finnegan.

Julia Murphy, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Murphy, was born in Lafayette county, Wisconsin, December 17, 1865, and remained there for several years. When she was twenty years of age she moved with her brothers to Linn Grove and later they located near Peterson.

At Storm Lake, February 6, 1893 she was married to William Deegan. Since their marriage they had been making their home on a farm in Peterson township.

Mrs. Deegan is survived by her husband, two children, Mrs. Edward Huss of Royal and Roy Deegan of Peterson, one sister, Mrs. Henry Clark of Elk River, Minnesota; four brothers, Jerry Murphy of Kenneth, Minnesota; Patrick Murphy of Darlington, Wisconsin; John Murphy of Platteville, Wisconsin and N.C. Murphy of Peterson. She is also survived by four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
