Mrs. Anna Beck, a pioneer resident of Clay county, passed away at her home 453 east Third street, Sunday morning at 8::15. Mrs. Beck was up town Saturday afternoon and while on her way home she slipped and fell in front of Dr. H.O. _reen's house on east Fourth street. She was taken home and giving medical care. Mrs. Beck slept well Saturday night but early Sunday morning a paralytic stroke came over her which caused her death.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the ____ and 2:00 o'clock at the Bethany Lutheran church, Rev. K. Nyegaard officiating. Burial will be made at Meadow cemetery northeast of Spencer.

Miss Anna Haroldson was born near Kongsberg, Norway, July 16, 1851. She remained there until the year 1875 when she came to America and located in Davis, Ill., making her home with a brother. Miss Haroldson lived a year at Davis, Ill., and then went to Beloit, Wis., where she stayed until 1878 and then came to Storm Lake.

In 1879 Miss Haroldson came to Clay county and was employed in the Joe Evans home. Mr. Evans was then owner of a stage line. C.M. Pinneo, then a youth, was one of the stage drivers. In February, 1882, Miss Haroldson was married to H.R. Beck at Storm Lake. They made their home in Meadow township, Clay county, on a farm five miles northeast of Spencer. Here they resided for six year. Five children were born to them, Mrs. H.W. Christensen of Peterson, Mrs. P.L. Hjelm of Wendling, Ore., Mrs. Alfred Underwood of Peterson, G.E. Beck of Hinsdale, Ill., and R.H. Beck of Spencer. Mr. Beck passed away on April 24, 1908. Ten years later, 1918, Mrs. Beck moved to 453 east Third street where she resided at the time of her death. Mrs. Beck was a member of the St. Paul's Danish Lutheran church of Meadow township and later became a member of the Bethany Lutheran church of Spencer.

Mrs. Anna Beck leaves to mourn her death her five children, three brothers, Thor Haroldson of Davis, Ill., Harold and Sam Rembrandt, three sisters, Mrs. H.E. Loe of Madison, Minn., Mrs. Axel Engebretson of Linn Grove and Miss Ada Haroldson of Spencer.
