The sad news of the death of Floyd Pedersen came as a shock to community Saturday night. He was a son of Andrew Pedersen, West Third street and a brother of Glen Pedersen, deceased, the first Spencer boy to fall in action in France and the Glen Pedersen for whom the Spencer Post of the American Legion is named.

For the past two months Floyd had not been well, the cause of his illness being rheumatism and anemia. On Monday of last week he was accompanied to Iowa city by his sister, Mrs. Amanda Van Trump of Des Moines. His death occurred in the University hospital there on Saturday evening, January 26.

Floyd Pedersen was born in Spencer on September 27, 1902, and aside from a few months spent now and then away from Spencer he had always made his home in this city. He attended the Spencer schools and after finishing school worked with his father in the Pedersen blacksmith shop and also worked for a time as a cook in the Quality cafe. He left for Chicago in September where he was helping to lay cement sidewalks. He was forced to give this up on account of his failing health.

Besides his father he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Van Trump of Des Moines and Mrs. Konrad Kall of Spencer and four brothers. Ivan Pedersen of Royal, Roy Pedersen of Long Beach, Cal., and Elmer Pedersen and Donald Pedersen of Spencer.

Mrs. Van Trump accompanied the body to Spencer arriving here at three o'clock Monday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Madson, pastor of the Baptist church at two thirty o'clock at the house and at three o'clock at the Baptist church. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.
