Spencer, IowaMargaret Mary Fitzloff, the daughter of George and Agnes (Grace) Van Houton was born on May 26, 1917 in Winnebago, NE. Her childhood years were spent in Winnebago where she attended country school, she then moved to Jackson, NE where she attended St. Catharines Academy graduating in 1936. Following graduation, she moved to Sioux City.
On November 19, 1938, Margaret married Leslie Marousek in Ponca, NE. Following their marriage during the war years, Margaret worked at a manufacturing plant assembling parts while her husband was in the military.
After her husbands death in 1948, Margaret moved to Fairmont, MN and then Spencer in 1958 where her parents could help her raise her family. She also worked part-time at Tom Thumb Nursery School while living in Spencer.
On January 17, 1971, Margaret married Fern Fitzloff of Spencer, IA. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm east of Spencer. Margaret loved gardening and raising flowers. She also liked having a lot of cats on the farm and always had to have one in the house. Margaret was able to stay on the farm until November of 2004, when she moved to WEL-Life in Spirit Lake to be closer to her son.
Margaret was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters and the Women of the Moose.
On September 8, 2008, Margaret passed away at WEL-Life in Spirit Lake at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; infant brother, Paul and one sister, Cecelia Sellner.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Richard Marousek of Vadnais Hts., MN and Les Marousek and his wife, Sharon of Okoboji, IA; seventeen nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
