Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the Garfield Cemetery in Webb, Iowa.

Garfield Cemetery, Webb, Iowa

Military Services will be conducted by the Graeber-Rowe Post #394 of Sioux Rapids, Iowa

M. Duane Current, the son of Leigh Martin and Emma Lillian (Schultz) Current, was born on July 16, 1924 in Rural Webb, IA. He received his early education there graduating from High School.

Duane entered into the military on December 1, 1943, serving in the United States Navy during WWII. While in the Navy he obtained the rank of Seaman 3rd Class before his honorable discharge on June 28, 1944. Following his military service, he worked as a postmaster in Evanston, IL. Duane then worked as an electronics engineer for A.C. Nielsen for 52 years. He lived in the communities of Kansas City, Omaha, Chicago and Clearwater, Fl before retiring to Webb in 2003.

Duane was a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church and a member of the American Economic Organization. He loved to read and watch opera videos and was a gentleman to the people he would meet.

Duane passed away at the Spencer Hospital on May 31, 2008, at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Merle and two sisters: Vera Thummel and Cleo Reimann.

Left to cherish his memory are several nieces and nephews.
