Spencer, IowaAlbert Fred Johnson, the son of Fred and Ella (Molter) Johnson, was born December 19, 1920 in Hartley, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Hartley, where he received his education. Following his schooling,
Albert entered the military and served with the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.
Albert returned to rural Spencer, Iowa from his military duty in 1946, where he was a cattleman and reluctant farmer for many years.
He was a past member of Zion Methodist Church in rural Spencer. He was also active in the VFW. Albert enjoyed fishing and pitching horseshoes in his spare time.
Mr. Johnson passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, April 11, 2008 at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Letha Siedsma and Richard and his wife, Beatrice Johnson.
Left to cherish his memory are his niece, Janice Kennedy of Wahpeton, IA and nephew, Thomas Siedsma of Greenfield, MN.
