Dorothy Leone Strautz, the daughter of Roy and Irma Mary (Robertson) Baustian, was born July 21, 1921 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Onawa, Iowa, where she attended Onawa Public School, graduating from Onawa High School in 1939. Following high school, she attended the Iowa Success Business College in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Dorothy married Paul Strautz on March 3, 1943 in Omaha, NE. Following their marriage, they lived in the communities of Seattle, WA, Sioux City, IA, Storm Lake, IA, Moville, IA, Des Moines, IA, Nevada, IA, Ankeny, IA and Spencer, IA. She did secretarial work in the Onawa Public School and for the Superintendent for Monona County Schools. Dorothy was a teacher associate for Spencer Public Schools until her retirement in June of 1986. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

Dorothy passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the age of 86. Her parents preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Paul of Spencer; two sons: David Strautz and his wife, Kathy of St. Charles, MO and Steven Strautz and his wife, Susan of Marshall, MN; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
