Carl Edward Birchard, the son of William and Gretchen (Parks) Birchard, was born September 6, 1960, in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Spencer where he attended and graduated from Spencer High School. Following graduation, Carl graduated from Sheldon Community College as an auto body repairman.

Following his schooling Carl worked in Spencer and opened Carls Mediastripping and Auto Body and co-owned CR Powdercoating with his brother Greg.

Carl enjoyed working and hunting with his two labs Jake and Bubba and his nine nephews. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Carl passed away Monday, December 24, 2007, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 47. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gretchen Birchard; nephew, Tyler Tewes; paternal grandparents, Carl and Virta Birchard; and maternal grandparents, Ed and Laura Parks.

Left to cherish his memory are his dad, William Birchard; three sisters: Laurie (John) Tewes, Heidi (Sam) Chapman, Cari (Jeff) Crooks; one brother, Greg (LaDonna) Birchard; step-nieces and nephews, Mike Crooks, Brandon Crooks, Phil Crooks Jacob Chapman, Adam Chapman, Emily Classon; other relatives and many friends.
