Everly, IowaPhyllis Fae Wilken, the daughter of Elmer and Edith (Loveless) Wilson, was born January 1, 1924 in Paton, Iowa. She received her early education and graduated from the Paton High School. She attended and graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Phyllis married Herman (Sonny) Wilken on October 1, 1944, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Following their marriage, she was a music teacher in Public Schools.
After retiring from teaching in 1970, Phyllis gave piano lessons to many students in Everly.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Everly where she also taught Sunday School, Federated Womens Club in Everly and Garden Club in Spencer.
Phyllis was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved spending time with her family and being involved in their activities.
Phyllis passed away on December 13, 2007, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa at the age of 83. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sonny on September 25, 2004; daughter, Reatha De Groot.
Left to cherish her memory is her two daughters and their husbands: Chlea and Garwin Rafdal of Everly, IA and Vikki and Dennis Beinke of Wilton, IA; five grandchildren: Kae Lee Hogan and her husband, Heath, Jacqueline Carstens and her husband, Kirt, Joshua Beinke, Jessica Beinke, and Travis Rafdal and his wife, Abby; three great grandchildren: Lexi Hogan, Kole and Carly Carstens; son-in-law, Don De Groot, of Lakeland, CO; other relatives and friends.
