Betty was married at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Berkeley, California, in 1949 to Bill E. Dailey of Spencer. The couple continued to live in various cities throughout California while Mr. Dailey served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1966. When he retired from the military, the family returned to Spencer in 1967.
Although the couple remained lifelong friends, they divorced in 1976. Betty returned to California, living in Silicon Valley from 1977 to 1986, before moving to Colorado Springs, CO, from 1986 to 1990, when she returned to Spencer.
