Spencer, IowaIrma Katherine Clausen, the daughter of Otto C. and Elsie S. Schoelerman Garms, was born December 13, 1919 in Royal, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Moneta, Iowa, where she received her education graduating from Moneta High School. She later attended a business college for one year.
Irma married Arlan Clausen on February 14, 1946 in Royal, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Spencer area. Irma was a Deputy County Clerk for 20 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal and was active in the church womens group. Following the closing of Trinity Lutheran Church, Irma transferred her membership to Christ The King Lutheran Church in Spencer. She enjoyed craft work, traveling, and playing cards.
She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Luetta Rossiter; two brothers: John and Richard Garms and a brother-in-law, Donald Rossiter.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Arlan of Spencer; three sons: Otto and his wife, Judy of Bluffton, Indiana, Jerry Clausen of Spencer, Iowa and Jon and his wife, LaRae Clausen of Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter, Ann Sahraie and her husband, Saboor of Slatehill, NY; 6 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; other relatives and many friends.
